Wordclouds

Over at Wordle there's an interesting app that allows you to paste in text and have it generate a wordcloud image, based on frequency of word use.

Here's an image generated from the first chapter of my book, Living Gnosticism:



And here's the Hymn of the Pearl as a wordcloud:



Here's the Gospel of Thomas:



I can see these being very useful in a therapeutic setting as well, allowing individuals to make a list of interests or identifiers and then seeing that list in a very different context. Here's one I did quickly for fun.



Particularly when going down the well-travelled roads of familiar scripture this can be a great head-tilt, exposing the piece in a new light.
